What does being in love mean to me?
All I have ever wanted was to be loved.
What does being in love mean to me?
It is the numerous heartstrings dangling, then growing long, and eventually intertwining with the long-grown heartstrings of another.
We all start with heartstrings. They begin to tangle with our mothers, sisters, fathers, or aunts—maybe a few others. We grow farther apart from most of these folks as we age.
Our heartstrings go searching for another heart.
// Falling in love is permanent.
// Anyone who thinks otherwise has never been in love.
Once we find the person we are supposed to spend the rest of our lives with, these long heartstrings begin to attach to the end of the other's heartstrings. They intertwine. They gain strength. And eventually, what resembles a rope is metaphorically present, connecting these two hearts.
When one heart pulls away, the other cries.
When one heart hides, the other searches.
When one heart is threatened, the other defends.
// For true love doesn’t give up.
What does being in love mean to me?
Being in love is better than what you see on the big screens or in the fairy tales our mothers read to us as children.
Being in love is better than the sweetest of drinks or the finest of drugs.
Being in love is better than pleasure felt from head to toe.
Being in love is better than a new outfit on the first day of school.
Being in love is better than the joy you feel on Christmas morning.
Being in love is better than winning a prize or getting an A.
Being in love is better than having all the answers or knowing all the truths.
Being in love cannot be described, although we all try.
Being in love can only be felt.
Being in love can only bring happiness if it is mutual.
Two being in love is the best feeling and the best place to be.
Once you have it and once you feel it, you never want to lose it.
Thank you for being here.
With love, The Girl with the Name
